Storage notes
Everything is stored twice: full-resolution TIFF on the local disk, and a JPEG derivative here. Nothing is deleted, even the badly exposed frames — they are often the only picture of someone taken that year.
Scanning is slow. Roughly one roll per evening if the negatives are clean, much longer if they are not. The oldest strips need washing before they can go through the scanner at all.
